goals + accountability + a link up

Unless you live under a rock, you know that at the beginning of every month, Ashley posts her goals for the month along with an update on the previous month's goals.

Clearly I LOVED the idea, because I totally copied her in January. I thought that putting my goals on the good ole' internets would make me be accountable to them. As usual, I was wrong. I need more than just putting them on here, I need friends to keep me accountable and to join with me in having some goals each month. And yes, it reallllllly does help. I can't tell you how many times Ashley and I text each other about our goals! Mainly the no shopping one...that is HARD to go at alone.

So, Ashley had an amazing idea to turn this into a link up. (She's full of amazing ideas, that one!) I've been having mixed feelings towards link ups lately, to be honest, but this one is not just a link up to link up one, it's ALL about linking up to find others that want a little extra push and encouragement to knock out their goals. I plan on using twitter to help me encourage friends who link up...or maybe a little snapchat action, too. Those are fun :)

On Monday, please grab the code/button and join us in encouraging each other!

perfection

Monday mornings already rough. Throw in a computer that doesn't work and a 10AM meeting and that makes for a late post. Seriously, this stupid PC makes me want to run home and hug my Mac.

I wrote those three lines above at 11AM and now it's noon. So yea, Monday morning has NOT been perfection. But this weekend? OH, this weekend was.

A and I got into Houston on Wednesday night and talked to my mom a bit before heading to bed. Thursday night we cooked my parents dinner and drank a lot of champagne. Try it, your Thursday night will thank you. Your Friday headache will not.

Friday:
Our offices closed a bit early due to St. Patty's day celebrating so A and I headed over to my sister's house with my mom. We were at the park from 4 until 7. It was PERFECT weather and running around with Reid was a blast. That little guy is not afraid of anything at the moment and it makes for a lot of fun.

Reid "blowing" bubbles - dinner time! - branching out with new outfit choices. Hey guys! Go to Gap, the shorts are adorbs.

One of my sister's friends from high school and his wife met us and we headed to dinner at Coppa near their house. It was DELICIOUS. And the drinks were out of this world. Combine that with hilarious dinner conversations and it was the perfect night.

Moscow Mule - Bellini. Hello heaven.

Saturday:
I woke up bright and early and SO READY for lunch with Ashley! My sister (can you tell I like her a lot?) told me about the cutest place ever, Tiny Boxwoods, near the galleria so we met there. And to prove that she really is the sweetest person EVER, Ashley drove an hour (each way!) to meet me there! We talked for almost THREE hours - and it was just like I was chatting away with a friend I'd known my whole life. How lucky did I get on my first blate?! We already know for sure that we will be meeting up the next time I'm in town (and our pups, too!) and I can't wait for that day. psssssst Alexa, join us on that one!! pweeeeeeese!

How cute are we? - Buffalo burger + white wine mojito. It was the best burger I have EVER had. - The beautiful Tiny Boxwoods! Anyone want to come join us on the next date?

And I have to mention again how sweet she is because she brought me gifts! with bows on them! I seriously can't believe how lucky I am to have found such amazing friends through this blog. I may have also started a box of fun goodies to send to her soon :)

I'm wearing the gold bracelet right now and immediately put the keychain on. Love it!!

Saturday night we laid low and had dinner at my best friend's house, she's in town with her fiance' for their spring break. YES - I am jealous.

Sunday:
We packed up and headed out to my sister's house (again, are you senseing a theme?) to drop off Bowden before heading to brunch for my BIL's birthday. It was the perfect day to eat outside - how nice of it to go along with my weekend of perfection.

Reid smiles, sleepy man after lunch - The kid is OBSESSED with water!

lunch yummies - brunch for me and a hot dog for A

And now I will do like Bowden and take a nap, that was one crazy weekend!

another one bites the dust

The weekends just seem to go by faster when you are older. I am not OK with this, and something needs to be done about it. I vote that we make it mandatory for work to end at noon on Friday and we start the work week on Tuesday. I really think this would make everyone a much happier person. Unless you are one of those crazy lucky OMG I HATE YOU person that loves your job.

Anywaysss, I got a little bored with my layout so I went a little crazy with photoshop on Friday. I really like how it all turned out, so I think this one will stay for longer than 2 months. And The Bow Blog Designs doesn't really exist, it just sounded so much more fun and professional. Hey, maybe one day it WILL exist! Probably the day I figure out how to make the domain I purchased work. I no speako your languageo computero!

I also made a new header for my sister-in-law's blog, The Domestic Dog Mom. Go on and check her out while you're at it, she just started the blogging adventure and already has two really yummy recipes posted! And cute puppies, everyone loves cute puppies.

Now onto a weekend update of sorts. On Friday night A and I met up with my sister and her husband and little Reid man at a new restaurant in the Heights, Cottonwood. It was perfect for the warm weather Houston is having and for Reid to run around and be wild. It had only been three weeks since we'd seen him, but good gosh, in those three weeks he changed so much! I hate that I can't see him every day but am so thankful I am able to see him as often as I am. He knows exactly who I am now and says KiKi like a champ. He tries to say Andre' but it comes out as "de", it's still adorable.

Then we went to Beaver's to meet some friends for drinks. I was a bad blogger and didn't take any pictures. BUT I did learn about these insane bars in Houston, referred to as "bathhouses." It pretty much blew my mind (and still does!) that it's allowed for a place to exist that, when you walk in, hands you a towel and a comdom and lets you have at it. Glory holes everywhere. And then A told me that crazier things were out there than that, so I'm choosing to remain naive about it and pretend that it's all rainbows and butterflies in the world.

Saturday morning we played a bit with Bowden and Reid and then A dropped me off at Brickhouse Bridal where my best friend FOUND THE DRESS! It was actually the first dress she tried on. It is beyond perfect and I am so honored to stand by her side in seven months!

Saturday night we went to Blackfinn in Midtown for dinner with my three best friends from high school. The drinks were really good but we waited over an hour for our food, so I don't think I would go back. And I'm still wondering why there was part of a Christmas tree in my drink.

Annnnd I finally told people I know in real life (besides A and my sister-in-law) about this little ol' blog! I was talking about it but refused to tell them what it was called, but I'm easily convinced so I gave in. I really don't know why I am so embarrassed when it comes to that, but oh well, they know about it now!

Sunday we met up with the whole family (Minus my little sister, apparently her boyfriend is much cooler than we all are. HA.) for my birthday lunch. We went to Grimaldi's in The Woodlands and YOU GUYSSS, my mouth is still watering. Their pizza is amazing, and I am really picky about pizza! (A has in fact referred to me as a pizza snob. Not my fault Lafayette doesn't have any good pizza!)

Little man was so tuckered out from all of the fun. He's just so precious when he sleeps. And I'm going to need him to give me his eyelashes!

That's about all that went on in my neck of the woods. Now hurry up next weekend! I'm ready for ya!

Go link up so I can read about your fun weekend :)

pretty little wieners

Shout out to Alexa for the inspiration for the title of this post. Brought to you via Bowden's disgusting red rocket and gchats about her mom's awesome little wiener - yep that doesn't sound wrong AT ALL.

And it's fitting because today my house (ok, parent's house) has gone to the dogs.

I present to you - the Lindsey/Hebert/Torian family zoo.

Weighing in at five pounds, I present to you the wiener man himself, Mr. Bowden.

Mr. Bowden playing with Huck - Bowden may act all big and touch but homeboy is straight up TERRIFIED of Huck. Wouldn't you be scared of someone 20 times your size? I think yes.

Then there's Skeeter. Girlfriend is absolutely positively terrified of any other dog. Baby girl doesn't have any hair (was like that when they rescued her) so when dogs paw at her, she does NOT like it one bit.

You leave me alone Mr. Huck! You too, Mr. Bowden! Let this princess be!

I planned on joining in on the letters to my single self link up, but let's be honest, I can't get anything done in this zoo. Or with Mr. Bowden humping me and me running away from his nasty red rocket. Impossible!

wedding wednesday

In late June some of A's parent's friends threw us the best shower ever - it was seriously so much fun.

We told them we wanted a couple's shower but didn't want it to be super "showery" - we wanted it to be more of a party. Because really, what guy wants to go sit down for an hour and watch the couple open presents?

It was Mexican Fiesta themed and it was the best party ever. They catered some of the best food I've ever had (still dreaming about those meat pies) and had an open bar with cute little margarita glasses just for the bride and groom.

One of my favorites of the night was my dress - I so wish I owned this one. I used Rent the Runway and loved it so much that I rented a dress for my next shower, too! I would highly suggest this route to brides-to-be, you buy so many dresses that it's nice to save a little money here and there.

Hands down the BEST part of the night was the after party. We all carpooled to a bar downtown and had the most ridiculous dance party. People hated us, but it was SO much fun.

Can you tell we had a little too much fun dancing to Carly Rae and Justin Bieber?

Being surrounded by all of our friends and family and so much love was my favorite part of the whole wedding process. I love re-living it through these posts!

rewind

Recently a few things have been making me wish I could press the reqind button and go back to 2009. AKA - I MISS COLLEGE SO MUCH.

I realize that I hated finals during college, but if one more person posts about being so stressed about finals, I'll go insane. I would give ANYTHING to only have finals to worry about right now. Sure, it's a week of hell, but at the end of it you get OVER a month of free time. Yea, you have to go back to school in January, but COME ON. It's not hard people. You get up around 10, go to class, home around 1 and then watch TV and "study" a bit. Then a nap followed by going out even though you probably shouldn't. And really, in all honesty, I would rather spend three nights in the library studying for econ than five days working in an office.

Maybe if I LOVED my job I wouldn't feel this way, but that's not going to happen any time soon so I'll continue to feel this way until then...if that ever happens.

ANYWAYS - enough of my jealousy. Let's re-cap this weekend, shall we?

A and I (and Bowden) headed up north for the weekend. And by north I mean Bossier City. (In Louisiana anything above I-10 is considered north and pretty much Texas.) My best friend from college lives there and my best friend from high school just so happened to be in town, so I was SO excited to see them both. We were pretty low-key Friday night.

This is at Oyster Bar, my favorite place to eat there. And no, not because of the oysters. I mean, they're probably good and all but I hate them. I love this place because of the queso! BEST blanco queso I've EVER had. Then from there we went to The Vintage, the cutest wine bar where the wine is on tap! Loved it. I had a glass of Moscato d'Asti and drank it really fast so my tummy hurt. We decided it was time to go when I rested my head on the table for a bit :)

Saturday we went to Target to check out the Neimen's line. It was TERRIBLE. I liked one of the Tracey Reese shirts...but if I'm going to spend $80 on a shirt...ok yea, I would never spend $80 on ONE shirt. Puuhhlease.

We did find this, though. Sorry Al :)

I'm pretty sure that was like $60 or something reeeediculous.

Then we watched STUPID alabama beat georgia. I should probably boycot FB now, all these dumb LSU fans are all of a sudden going to be alabama fans now. This is why I do NOT approve of the whole stupid cheer for your conference thing. You should NEVER under any circumstances cheer for your rival - duh. People are just silly.

We finished up the game at Nickey's - yet another Mexican place. A probably never wants to eat Mexican again after this weekend. Then we went to the Warehouse to see A's old roommate's Bubba's band play. (whew!). Mostly I just drank and cried about the $9.50 drinks. What are we, rich?! Drinks aren't even that much in Houston!

As soon as we could we hightailed it outta there to The Cub, home of free drinks for cute girls. No complaints from me. Plennnnty of complaints on Sunday morning, though. I cannot tell you the last time I stayed out until 2...why we thought that would be a good idea Saturday night I have no clue. I don't remember anything so I probably made a fool of myself, as usual.

Tomorrow I'm off to Chicago for a "holiday party" for work. Excited to go but not excited to have two days of work waiting for me when I get back!

Go link up your weekend fun with Sami, Dana and Leeann!

wedding wednesday

and in today's edition of posts where I talk too much...we have my first bridal shower!

The friends mentioned in the previous post (Lyns, Haylie and Steph) and one more, Lauren, and their moms threw me this shower in Houston.

It was SUCH a nice shower! Haylie's mom is super crafty so everything turned out perfect. They had all the shower guests bring a recipe and with their gift they put all of them in a recipe binder. I love it and refer to it weekly!

I'm not one for shower games, but the one they did was really fun. Every guest brought an additional small gift in different wrapping than the regular one. I had to open each one and guess who brought it. For example, a guest brought olive oil and it was my sister-in-law because she loves to cook Italian food. (Ok, I got this one wrong, but it paints the picture.) For every guess I got right, I got fun goodies that they knew I loved, like Goldfish, nail polish and candy.

We got tons of fun presents - my family and friends are seriously the best! Here's some pictures from the day.

the dessert table set up - so yummy!

how to day drink

Anyone know how to? I sure don't. I act like I do...and then five hours later I'm about to fall asleep.

Why would I need to know how to do this? Two words: football season. Duh! At LSU we typically get out there between 9 and 10...for a 7pm game. It's some serious stuff and I, sadly, can't hang like I could in college.

Doesn't mean I don't try to now, though!

Anyways, that's what I'm doing today. Trying to day drink and make it out alive at the end of the day. Look for me on TV! GEAUX Tigers - beat those silly little piggies.

Here's a look back at some games this season and last season :)

Bama game 2012 - we won the tailgate!

South Carolina game - we matched!

Washington game in the eight thousand degree weather. The things we do for football!

2011 game - nothing like a beer at 10am!

Arkansas game 2011 - mama's first game post baby!

FSU vs. Oklahoma 2011 - love my fratty guy :)

Another from the ou game, tailgating with my dad's best friend and his daughters

I'll be back Monday with a weekend update - hopefully LSU and FSU will win and I'll be in a good mood. If not, watch out.
