Jazz Fest 2013

Last week they announced the lineup for Jazz Fest 2013 and I cried. Tears of happiness, of course! This is seriously the BEST YEAR EVER. (I say that every year. But really!)

A little background: I am lucky enough to work for a company that takes us every year - all expenses paid. There's lots of schmoozing in my industry, and basically for us it means that we have to spoil our clients to get them to buy more with us. It's a win-win, because we get to benefit. We go to both weekends each year (different clients come each weekend) and entertain OVER THE TOP. We stay on at the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon (just about the only time of year I would stay on Bourbon) and then attend the festival on Friday and Saturday. Did I mention that it also means a free day off work? Holla!

It also means a LOT of going out. Basically it's a weekend of drinking, more drinking, eating crappy (but so yummy!) food...and more drinking. Crawfish Monica...get in my BELLAY!

Before we go into the awesomeness that is this year's lineup, let's look at last year, shall we?

Second weekend group at Pat-O's. I don't even want to know what the bar tab was there. Find the bow and you'l find me!

Corey's first Jazz Fest also meant Corey's first...whatever that disgusting shot is called. We love him, I promise!

And of course, you can't go out and not do the wobble. And I'm just now noticing how much I do not fit in at this bar.

And now, for the best part. The ones I am MOST excited for are:

First Weekend
Friday: John Mayer | Band of Horses
Saturday: BILLY. FREAKING. JOEL. | Rebirth Brass Band
Sunday: Dave Matthews Band | Earth, Wind & Fire

Second Weekend
Friday: Maroon 5 | Marc Broussard
Saturday: Fleetwood Mac | Little Big Town

And now you know how big of a weirdo I am because I am most excited for Billy Joel. Please still be my friend?

done complaining

Oh, hey there. This is how I feel about the post I was going to write today.

I can't even put into words how stressed out work is making me right now. Usually writing these posts creates an escape for me, but today it's just stressing me out even more.

I know it gets REALLY bad when I feel like doing this. As mentioned in my goals post, I am REALLY bad about separating work and real life, so when I feel like this at work...I feel like this in real life. A is such a lucky guy, huh?

But last night - while watching that awful thing some called a football game - I decided that complaining was not going to get me anywhere. It's just going to suck me further into the hatred hole - which is the last thing I need right now.

So before it gets to this point, I'm going to do something about it! I don't normally take a lunch break (maybe that is part of my problem?), but today I'm going to whip up a fancy resume and send some emails. My dream job isn't going to find me!

This post brought to you by Tumblr and a crazy stressed mind that can't think straight. We will be back to regular programming tomorrow.

greetings from chicago

Just checking in from Chicago while freezing my little booty off. It was apparently 70 degrees here yesterday, not sure why it couldn't have stayed that way? At least it's not 32 degrees during the day like it was last year. My ears fell off that trip - OK, they FELT like they did.

Anyways, I'm here for a "holiday" party for work. I hate that we have to call it that, but I have to be a good employee and not offend anyone or something.

Come back tomorrow (evening) for a much better post. This one needs to end pronoto so I can head out to meet up with a sorority sister that I haven't seen in too long.

Hootie hoot y'all.
