I also said yesterday that I would be back today with a college story. I lied. What had happened was...
I went to the t.swizzle concert last night. Annnnnd it was amazing. All you Taylor haters can just leave now, because you'll likely be annoyed. But not really, because the people watching/listening was amazing and I'll get into that later.
We started the concert like any normal 25 year old would - with drinks. I'm the complete weirdo who has an absolute obsession with bloody mary's right now, so that's what I got. It was delicious. (We were in the club level so the bar was amaaaazing.)
Y'all - she puts on such an amazing show. Every single song is performed like a movie. So theatrical! They put in SO much thought on each and every one. The only odd parts were when she would just start talking. She's awkward, we all know that. But there wasn't that much talking, so it was all good in my book.
And so many outfit changes! As in more than Carrie Underwood - and that's A LOT. But I loved them all. And speaking of Carrie - I thought I wanted her legs, but now I know that I want Taylor's. I should also add in that I want to grow a foot, too. She probably doesn't even work out - if I was running and dancing around a stage for 2 hours each night, I know I wouldn't need to!
Annnnd of course, the people watching. I don't know what was better - that or the people listening. Or eaves dropping, whatever you want to call it. I made a list.
Things overheard at a Taylor Swift concert:
- Who is this song about? The girls behind us asked this about every single song. It makes me laugh because every single song is about someone. "Joe!" "NO, this one is about Jake!" "Ugh, you are so dumb, it's about John!" (FYI Tay, stay away from the J's.)
- She is like, so deep. Again, the girls behind us. They couldn't believe that she could sit down and write a song. But this was said about one of her little talking sessions and I had to keep from laughing out loud.
- Wait! We didn't take a picture of our tickets! Do you think someone is going to not believe you were there?
- OMG! It's her mom!! Before the show started, Tay's mom walked through the floor to her spot in the back. The teenyboppers went INSANE. They ran over each other (literally) to take a picture with her mother. Her mom is really nice, though, and did take pictures with people along the way. But still...it's her mom.
- MOM! The t-shirts are sold out! This little girl's life was pretty much over. How will she survive without a $40 shirt that will fall apart the first time it's washed?!
- I need another beer. Every dad/boyfriend/husband/fiance in the arena.
All in all, I had a blast. I would go again - and probably will go to her next tour. She puts on a great show and you can tell that she really cares about what she's doing.
Weekend plans: Dave Matthews band tonight! And then we will be spending all day Saturday looking at appliances and furniture. Oh the joys of growing up.

I ain't got no shame that I am totally jealous! That sounds like a fantastic night!!

ReplyDeleteAlso I kinda not so secretly love to hate T.Swift! I would unashamedly go (and enjoy) her concert!

Sounds like fun. Bruoght me back to a few concerts I've attended and sometimes the best things are the people.
ReplyDeletei'd need another beer too if i was those guys! (or just me at the concert)
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this. I went with my sister in law two years ago and the 10 year old boy in front of us cried with excitement the whole time.
ReplyDeleteglad y'all had a blast! she actually came and performed at our little community college right after the "Tim McGraw" song came out and she was SO nice, of course this was back in like 06/07, but still. My husband (who was helping out our best friend's aunt who was catering said concert) met her back stage and he is 6'4 but could look her in the eye while she was wearing cowboy boots and he was so shocked by how crazy tall she is.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to one of her shows, I just love love love me some Tay Swift.
ReplyDeleteThis is how I felt about seeing Britney Spears. It was an experience, not just a concert. Same with Lady Gaga! I want to see Carrie Underwood :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I'm obsessed with Taylor Swift. Probably like those girls behind you but worse because I totes would have never forgotten to instagram a picture of my ticket...newbs.

T. Swizzzz fo lyfe. Why wasn't I there?! Except I have THE worst case of secondhand embarrassment ever and I would've crawled out of my skin listening to her talk. Sooooo just sing and all will be right with the world :)
ReplyDeleteThis post, all of it! I saw Taylor in Lexington(sorry that I don't have a picture of my ticket on instagram to prove it, lol), but she was amazing! She's awkward and her outfits are amazing and Taylor haters can leave! I didn't get a bloody mary at my concert, but I did get a beer. We had a similar mindset! Did you see the displays of some of her outfits she's worn? I'd like to be smaller and have her wardrobe, please & thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally wanted to win tickets to that show! There would be no way I'd pay for them but I'd love to go for free, haha. She's sooo awkward to listen to sometimes though! lol. It was SO good to see you last night!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an awesome show! I've always wanted to go to a T-Swift concert .. didn't realize how theatrical she would be, but I guess I can see her doing that! LOL about what you over heard .. definitely laughed! Thanks for sharing xo
