Ohhhh craigslist. Sometimes you can be the best thing ever, and sometimes you can be a pain in the behind. At least I'm no dummy and can understand when I'm being scammed!
We've had an extra couch in our living room since we moved in. Original plan was to have both couches set up but I overestimated the size of said living room - it's doll house tiny. So right now the couch is underneath the bar area where the bar stool should be.
Sure, it comes in handy when we have people over, but I WANT IT OUT.
Enter craigslist! I sold my desk last year with no problems. I expected the couch to be the same. HAAA. I was wrong.
About 20 minutes after I listed it I got an email from one 'Long Zachary'...but his email adress was 'john.scot8@gmail.com.' Uhmm, OK - I was a little confused but emailed back and said that it was available.
Two days go by and he emails me back, but under the name of 'Louis Larry' with an email adress of 'ava.forsy06@gmail.com.' UHH WHATT?!?
I'm pasting the email below in it's entirety to show you how ridiculous it was. I mean, come on, you would go through all that trouble to get a USED couch?! What kind of idiot do you think I am?! I'm still laughing about it now. Hopefully you'll get a fun Friday laugh today, too :)

My boyfriend got a similar email when he was trying to sell his boat. Craigslist can be helpful, but it can also be completely sketchy.

I'm had this happen before too but it was for an apartment we were looking at. They told us they would mail us the key (because they were overseas doing a mission trip..yea OK) once we gave them all our contact info! Crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteThe same exact thing happened to us!! We drove by the house once to see it and happened to see the owner outside and told him about it, he was shocked! We found out from the IP address that the scammer was in California. Do these people have nothing else to do with their life that they just hang out on CL scamming people?!
Deletesuch freaks out there!
ReplyDeleteGAH those people annoy me. It sucks the world isn't a better place. It has happened to me too, but when it did I knew what was going on and didn't fall for it. You are a smart girl! Newest follower, XOXO kaylyn
