mardi gras, y'all

8:23 and I'm finally getting time to sit down and blog! I was able to read some of your lovely posts this morning but then was in meetings all day long. Oh, did I mention that I had to work? The benefit was that traffic was AMAZING due to everyone else not working...so I guess I will take that as a win.

The ball was SO much fun this weekend! It was the Krewe of Attakapas ball - an all women's krewe that A's mom is in. It's a fairly big krewe and each year they have a queen and six maids, and his mom was a maid this year. So it was extra special.

I was going to do my hair myself and wear it down, but I changed my mind on Friday (about everything pretty much!) and made an appointment to get it done and bought some jewelry to go with the new look.

I decided to do soft and sweet colors, thus the light pink earrings and then two pink and neutral bracelets that you can't see. I LOVED the look! And I am still obsessed with my hair. I had a terrified look on my face when my hair dresser was doing the poof and she said "don't worry, it will be more Adele than Snooki!" She was totally correct!

Not only did we get to ride in a limo (my father-in-law is, rightfully so, very against drunk driving), but we got to have a nice fancy dinner at Ruth's Chris. HELLOOOO heaven. It was the perfect pre-birthday meal, I felt very spoiled!

Did I mention that the ball (as most are) was SUPER elaborate? A's mom is on the left as the maid. It's a secret Krewe, so the first portion of the night all of the members are in costumes and masks to conceal their identity and then later on they change into their formal outfits. Each maid gets a call out dance, A's mom had three, one for A's dad, A and then his brother. Sweet boys!

And then...I woke up to this hair. After eating a Big Mac that night. Y'all, I HATE BIG MACS. Ate every single bite.

Helloooo Snooki! I rocked this the entire day (lazy birthday princess say aha?) and then when I took a shower I had to wash it twice and I'm pretty positive I still have hairspray in it right now. As my hairdresser said, she had Jesus in a can for my hair. And a sock.

Moving on, as previously mentioned, Sunday was super low key. The only thing I did was make myself a Strawberry Pie. And let me tell you, it was delicious. (I did send A on a mission to get candles, he did pretty good!!)

We also made homemade Chick-fil-A sandwiches and fries in our new fryer. And it's to no one's surprise that I have five recipes from skinnytaste.com on this week's menu. 80/20, right?

We also watched football all day (with a nap in between) and given the choices of teams, I am happy with who is playing in the super bowl. And now the Ravens need to win!

Annnnd in some of the best news all day, I found out that I won an AMAZING giveaway from Ten Feet Off Beale! It made this birthday the best. one. yet.

And in sad/somber news, little Bowden underwent his surgery this morning. I've never seen anything more pathetic in my life than him right now. He can't feel anything down there so he keeps peeing all over the floor, but he can have a pass for a few days! (And thank goodness we have wood floors!)

That's about it for ze birthday weekend. Now I'm onto making this year a GREAT one!

PS - I bought a domain (yay!) but it won't register and I'm losing my MIND. If any of you pretties recently did this, I would FOREVER appreciate an email so I could get your help. THANKS!!
