We made a weekend out of it and went to Austin, TX on Thursday night and Gruene, TX for the weekend.
We started off the night with some delicious homemade cocktails and found a winner - Pearl Wedding Cake Vodka with Pineapple juice and a splash of simple syrup + rose's lime juice. Shaken until frothy. YUM!
Then it was time to hit the town.
Central Texas during the summer is CRICKET mania, which explains the first picture. Seriously, they were EVERYWHERE! In our hair, on our pizza, ugh. Gross. Other than that, we had a blast on Thursday night in Austin. Thursday during the summer is a relatively quiet night in that city, so the bar workers walk up to people on the street and offer free drinks to get you to come in. We didn't pay for a single drink the whole night! Go in, get your drink, finish it, and move on. Great for people watching, too!
All of that partying made for a wakeup that was quite bad.
Yep, that is the dress I wore out the night before. Classy!
After some much needed Mexican food we headed to the airport to pick up my long lost best friend who ditched me for Louisville.
You've always wanted to do this, right? So fun!
Then it was time to hit the road to Gruene, the cutest little town ever.
If you are interested in relaxing but fun-filled Texas getaway, I highly suggest Gruene!
Dinner was next and filled with fun and laughter and cramming two drinks each into happy hour. Yum!
The view at dinner, so pretty!
Then we headed over to Gruene Hall - the oldest dancehall there is. You can definitely tell it's old, but that is part of the charm. And they only serve beer, wine and sangria. So cute! We had SO much fun, I am already itching to go back.
We got REALLY lucky - while standing in line to pay cover ($7 each) an older man and his wife saw that we were a Bachelorette group and he paid for all of our covers! He was the sweetest thing ever.
Some people find this odd, but my mom was with us the whole weekend. I loved it and having her there with me to join in the celebrations was a lot of fun.
Saturday we woke up to the smell of Monkey Bread (see, perks of having my mom there!) and got ready to float the Guadeloupe River. I made Hop, Skip and Go Naked for everyone to drink (six pack of beer, container of lemonade concentrate and then fill that with Vodka, pour and mix. I highly suggest using fruity beer and flavored vodka!). My sister bought CFA nuggets so we snacked on those while floating.
We ended the weekend with a lingerie shower. My mom decorated the condo while we were tubing, she did great!
First we played the panties game - every girl brought a pair that described her or our friendship and I had to guess who brought what.
Then we opened the goodies and named each of them. On our honeymoon I brought them all wrapped up and A had to pick that night's outfit based on the name. Some that I remember were Breakfast at Tiffany's, Have Your Cake and Eat it, Too, and Cherry on Top. I highly suggest this method :)
And to conclude the longest post ever - I HAD SO MUCH FUN! I was so blessed that six of the ten bridesmaids could come - and the four that couldn't all mailed goodies to my sister so they were included. I am very blessed with some great friends!

What a fun weekend! Love your drink ideas, I'll have to remember those :)
ReplyDeletethat looks like a great time! I am kind of sad that a lot of my friends are married and I no longer have bachelorette parties to look forward too haha, so now we've taken to hosting "mom's first night out" parties where we celebrate the first night we all get to go out after someone's baby is born haha
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, one of my favorite posts of all time. You are seriously the cutest thing ever. & could you look any prettier that weekend? Even after sleeping in your night-before dress!
ReplyDelete& that is your MOM?!?! She is hot! Looks like you've got some good genes girlfriend! ;)
This is adorable, I really hope my bridesmaids put that much effort into mine. How nice of the old guy! :)
ReplyDeleteI love skip and go nakeds!!! They are a must-have for the summer & I love the panty game, how cute!!
ReplyDeleteDallas is pretty bad with the Crickets in the summer as well. That and the heat are the worst. Austin is so much fun and y'all seem like y'all had tons of fun. Gruene is on my Texas bucket list. Deff a cute place.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you ladies had a blast! My girls and I always make a weekend out of Bachelorette trips, too. That's the only way to go! Love the cowboy boots and dresses...one of my fav looks!
ReplyDeleteIs that your mama?! She's beautiful!!
wow this looks soooo fun. I love Gruene!!! you looked so cute. bachelorette parties are seriously the best.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have gone that weekend! I missed such a fun time with all you girls!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like such a fun amazing weekend! I had to work in Austin for several months last year, and the crickets were seriously disgusting!! I have a bug phobia, so it was a real problem! You've got me mad at myself for not going to Gruene while we were out there! One of the girls out there working went one weekend, but I never went. :*(
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. I'm a new follower :) I love Gruene! Definitely like the cutest town ever! We did my bachelorette party in Austin.
