We didn't have any plans for this weekend but it actually turned out to be REALLY fun. Meaning that we didn't just sit on the couch and watch TV all weekend. It's amazing how many fun things go on in Lafayette and we've just been wasting away in front of the tube watching Netflix. I am determined to actually GO to all of the festivals that are in South Louisnana in the springtime. The best one is the Breaux Bridge Crawfish festival. So don't make plans May 3-5 and come hang out with me and some deeeelicious mudbugs. Oh did I mention that it's only $15.00 to go all three days? That is a heck of a deal. SO COME. I have a guest bedroom that is really pretty.
Back to the weekend - Friday night I made a 40-clove garlic soup. It was delicious and no vampires will be coming to our house for a good 10 years. Good thing I love the smell of garlic! We tried to go out, but there were a few socials that night and our go-to bar was insanely packed and maybe even made me slighly deaf. Yes, I know I'm too old to go to a bar when there are kids dressed up from a social. KIDS!
Saturday we usually sleep in until noon and waste away. Not this Saturday! I set the alarm for 9:30 and we got set for a day of adventure.
Bright and early and ALL SET for a day on the town. It was also FREEZING out, so the bed sounded much better. We headed first to the Farmer's Market. Andre' was pleased with the $2 tamales and stocked up on that and some fresh salsa. I think that not many booths showed up because of the cold, so we'll be trying it again in hopes of the bagel booth being there. From there we explored a bit of the boutiques in the Oil Center until we were hungry enough to head to the FOOD TRUCK ROUND-UP! There were around 20 trucks all lined up and it was SO hard to pick which one. We ended up at a truck from Baton Rouge because it had a short line. Andre' got the Quesadilla and I got the Pulled Pork Sammie. His dilla was fancier than any restaurant one I've ever seen! The pork was good, but I've had better. We went over to a local dessert shop after for some coffee and to warm up. That's where we saw little Ms. I'm 35 but going on 18. She had a Juicy visor on, Northface pullover, bright yellow norts and knee-high Juicy socks. I think she was confused, maybe all of the botox went to her brain. From there we went to the UL Baseball game. It was freezing but luckily we stopped off for a blanket on the way. (Seriously I do not know how people in the north go to football games in the winter!!)
It doesn't end there! We went and got cleaned up and then met some friends for dinner at Marcellos, a delicious Italian place with a wine market built in. Our favorites so far have been the Oregon Pino Noirs, I sense an Oregon trip being planned soon! We closed the place down (and by that I mean they took my food away from me before I was even done eating) and headed to The Tap Room for some more fun. We ran into A's sister's brother-in-law. He's engaged to A's sister's best friend. (Confused? You should be.) We took the picture to send to Katie & Michael (A's sister and her husband, aka that guy in the picture's brother) because we were sad that they had to go back to BR. My anchor swoop didn't go as well as I planned, unfortunately!
I also tried to make this outfit work, but I felt like a mom. I love the tucked in with a belt look on other people but I just can't embrace it for me. And now I need to remind Andre' to clean his mirror!
On Sunday we didn't do much. A went to another baseball game and I designed some blogs (shameless plug?) and then we went to his parents for Gumbo. They sent us home with an entire pot full and I am SO excited to have it for these last few cold nights. You hear that cold? You are not welcome after this week.
And that brings us to Monday. OH Monday how I hate you. At least I have a fun FaceTime date scheduled with a super fun blogger fave! As I told her, this makes us officially friends IRL. I'm pretty excited :)
Tune in tomorrow for my reasoning as to why I drink champagne. (Do I really need one? NO.) And go link up with Sami so I can read about YOUR weekend!

ReplyDeleteI ADORE Food Trucks, ever since our visit to a Food Truck Rodeo in January, I've decided I want to hunt down some more in other places too. And I feel ya on going into bars and feeling old, I didn't even carded the other week when I ordered a drink with a meal and I was super disappointed.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is so good about getting us out to enjoy life. Glad you got out and did too. The couch and bed is tempting but there are so many other tings to do!! Two outings day and night??? I'm impressed. It's really hard for me to do. Bet that Quesadilla was yummy. One of my faves.
